AC Filter Replacement Schedule
You probably already know that your AC filter needs to be changed on a regular basis. However, did you know that the schedule depends on the people in your home? Here is how often most households should replace their air conditioning filters:
- Vacation homes or homes with a single occupant should change filters every 6-12 months
- An average-sized suburban home with no pets will need an air filter changed every 3 months
- Average-sized suburban homes with a pet should change air filters every 2 months
- Homes that have multiple pets or occupants that suffer from allergies will need a new filter every 20-45 days
Failing to change your air conditioner’s filter can cause you to pay more in the way of energy because dirty filters make your air conditioning system less efficient. In addition to this, your unit will work much harder which will shorten its lifespan and cause for more AC repairs.
